Phu Quoc Island To Host International Marathon

Registration is now open for the inaugural Phu Quoc International Marathon to be held on 11th June 2016 on Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam. This race has been tagged the “Run in Paradise”, a course between beautiful national parks and views of the ocean.

Participants will enjoy a scenic race down the southern half of Phu Quoc Island with one of the most scenic stretches of beaches in South-East Asia. Many events are scheduled - the main race of 42km (Full Marathon), plus the shorter 21km (Half Marathon), 10km, 5km and a 1km kids race, finishing inside the grounds of Long Beach Resort Phu Quoc, where athletes are welcome to run straight into the refreshing ocean. Athletes will be given access to the resort’s facilities to encourage athletes to relax and enjoy the beauty of Phu Quoc Island.

“The Phu Quoc Marathon will be an historic event for Phu Quoc as it is the first international full marathon running event on the island. The marathon will also allow participants to enjoy some of the best of what our island has to offer - not only the beautiful beaches, but also the sights and sounds off the main roads,” says Marcel Lennartz, Race Director of race organisers Sporting Republic.

“We welcome the opportunity to host the Phu Quoc International Marathon at our resort,” said Ganes Chinnathamby, General Manager of Long Beach Resort Phu Quoc. “Phu Quoc continues to be known as one of South-East Asia’s leading tourist destination. The Phu Quoc International Marathon will introduce visitors from around the world to the island’s amazing beaches and accommodations.”

Aiming to attract hundreds of local and overseas participants, registration for the event is open at the Phu Quoc Marathon
